Presenter(s): Richard Oravetz
Status: Available
Air Date: 11/5/2008
Air Time: 9:30 AM EST
Length: 27 Minutes
The Internet has proven to be an indispensable research tool, but has simultaneously made plagiarism far too easy and prevalent. In this session you will learn how to use a Web-based anti-plagiarism tool licensed for use at the University of Pittsburgh for all faculty at all campuses. This software checks your students’ work for originality against previously-submitted papers, Web pages, paper mill documents, and various online electronic sources. If there are similarities between a submitted work and online material, you are provided with links to those suspect documents. This session explains how the software works and how to get started using it to ensure that your students’ written work is not a result of "e-plagiarism.” Presented by Richard Oravetz, Manager, Faculty Instructional Development Lab, CIDDE, University of Pittsburgh
