Thousands of Pitt faculty members have adopted CourseWeb (Pitt’s implementation of the Blackboard course management system) and over 3/4 of all Pitt students use it in at least one of their courses. Blackboard is an integrated Web-based software suite that allows you to develop, manage, and use the Web for instruction. Blackboard helps you organize components of your course and provides tools to administer, grade, and record quizzes, to conduct online chat sessions, and to hold threaded discussions. With this user-friendly software, you can create new Web-based documents or incorporate existing ones, send e-mail, transfer files to and from students, and manage an online grade book. This session will introduce the basic concepts involved in using Blackboard effectively. Presented by Dana King, Instructional Technologist at CIDDE, University of Pittsburgh
